Red 2018 Jeep Wranglers in Stream - Eide Chrysler Pine CityWhen it debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2017, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler featured several upgrades to its engine, interior, and powertrain. Now in its fourth generation, the Wrangler continues to be a popular model for the manufacturer. The 2018 model comes in four different trims, which include the Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon. Read on to learn what to expect with the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

Upgraded Engine

The base model remains the same as the 2017, with a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. This trim comes with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. You can also opt for the newly added turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. This is available on the JL trim. Another change is a lower compression ratio for the engine, which results in a lower requirement for oil and coolant.

Redesigned Interior

The minute you look inside the 2018 Jeep Wrangler you will notice a new front-row seat design. These seats provide more head and leg room as well as a lot of additional leg room for rear passengers. You can upgrade for heated front seats, a leather interior, and a driver’s seat with two-way lumbar adjustment.

Updated Infotainment Center

Inside the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is the newest generation of Uconnect infotainment. Also in its fourth generation, Uconnect offers faster startup times and heightened pinch-to-zoon touchscreen response than in previous versions. The standard system includes a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth streaming audio, and satellite radio. You can upgrade to the Uconnect 4, which has a 7-inch touchscreen, AppleCar Play, Android Auto, and SiriusXM radio. The Uconnect 4C includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen along with navigation and all that’s offered on the Uconnect 4.

Revamped Exterior

The dimensions of this new generation are larger, with two inches added to the length. The width and height are almost the same, but the wheelbase extends about 1.5 inches. Air extractors now sit behind the fender flares, and this new location helps them cool the engine. The Jeep brand badge reverts back to the side of the aluminum fender from the hood. To help you see the road better, upgrade for premium LED headlights, fog lamps, and daytime running lights.

If you want to experience the open-air feeling you might associate with the Jeep brand, the 2018 Wrangler lets you fold down the windshield easier than in previous models. The 2018 model only has a few bolts, and the sports bar is now part of the windshield frame structure. Its zipper-less soft top is also easier to use, thanks to plastic rails that snap in place on the roll bars, while the hardtop is 20 percent lighter than previous hardtops

According to MSN Autos, the Jeep Wrangler is one of the most recognizable vehicles across the world. It also boasts one of the highest resale values of any vehicle in the United States.
